Editorial Policy
Purpose and Standards Studio Monitor Lab exists to help creators achieve trustworthy translation in small rooms. Our editorial standards prioritize accuracy, repeatability, and practical outcomes over hype.
Independence
• We do not sell editorial placement or accept payment for favorable coverage.
• Manufacturers and retailers cannot preview, edit, or approve our reviews.
• Loaners may be used for testing and are returned or donated. Where we keep a unit long-term, we disclose why.
Conflicts of Interest Contributors must disclose any relationships that could influence coverage. Individuals with conflicts are recused from related decisions.
Acquisition of Products We source products via retail purchases, time-limited loans, or standard review programs. Source does not affect our evaluation, methodology, or conclusions.
Fact-Checking and Methodology All technical claims are supported by in-room measurements, listening tests, or reputable sources. Our repeatable process is documented on the How We Test page. Significant updates to methods are date-stamped.
Affiliate Links and Revenue We may earn commissions from affiliate links at no extra cost to you. Revenue does not influence rankings or recommendations. We label affiliate relationships where required and maintain a strict separation between editorial and monetization.
Corrections and Updates If we make an error, we fix it promptly and note the change when material. Email corrections to [email protected] with a source; we’ll review and respond.
Ratings and Recommendations Scores reflect translation performance in compact rooms, clarity at low SPL, imaging at a small desk, and value. Every pick includes setup guidance (placement, isolation, sub/DSP starting points). If a monitor has caveats, we state them plainly.
User Contributions We welcome constructive feedback and data. We moderate to remove spam, harassment, or disinformation. Submissions may be edited for clarity and length.
Advertising and Sponsorship Display ads, if used, will be clearly labeled and kept separate from editorial. Sponsorships will never dictate product coverage, test outcomes, or rankings.
Embargoes and Timing We honor embargoes for logistics only. We do not publish rushed first impressions in lieu of testing; if time is insufficient for full evaluation, we say so.
